Volvo was one of the early adaptors of the technique and has used it both for Models, prototypes and process aids. The technology has recently taken the step to go from “Rapid Prototyping” to Additive Manufacturing. We are now interested to gain knowledge in the usage of AM “3D Printing” for injection molding and its methodology and the different factors that influence it.
Detailed description of thesis work:
Shorten lead-time and take the right decision when select a manufacturing method is always a need in the test object process.
There are many types of manufacturing processes and variation in product requirements depending where in the development process we are.
In this project we would like you to investigate and create a financial selection filter tool for different prototyping processes such as Additive Manufacturing, NC Milling, Sheet metal forming etc.

Do you fit the profile?
Good knowledge about metals, industrial processes, vehicles, economy. Excellent knowledge in tool making methods, injection molding and an ambitious work approach. Knowledge in additive manufacturing is considered as advantage.
